2006 Honda BF225

The powerful 4-stroke, Honda 225 HP Honda BF225 has a large displacement V-6 engine, giving it outstanding torque. The 24-valve, six-cylinder design produces all the durability and performance of the smooth-running Honda Acura MDX it was based on-in a narrow, sixty-degree "V" profile outboard.

The BF225 outboard motor features an "on-demand", 60 AMP alternator that reduces heat build-up and keeps your battery charged all day, even if you're running multiple accessories. And an oxygen sensor feedback system refines economy. Compact, computer-controlled Dual-Stage Induction makes this engine the standard for reliability.

The 225's Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control engineering is a state-of-the-art design that gives this Honda Marine flagship outboard a unique blend of power, torque and efficiency at any speed. Play the video to learn more about VTEC.

By sharing many components with the Honda Odyssey and Honda Pilot, the 225 HP BF225 motor offers years of proven Honda engineering, precision manufacturing and reliability.

Features

World Famous Quality
By sharing many components with the Honda Odyssey and Acura MDX, the BF225 gains years of proven Honda engineering, precision manufacturing and reliability.

Large Displacement V6
60° V6 3.5L (212 cubic inches) A powerful, compact 24 valve SOHC design. Lacking the bulk and weight of long intake runners and multi-camshafts, the narrow V6 design offers top performance and durability, based on Honda automotive engineering excellence.

VTEC
Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control system achieves the best of both worlds by utilizing mild cam lobes to operate the intake valves at low RPM-then, at 4500 RPM, engaging a "high output" cam lobe for high RPM operation. Benefit: VTEC offers a superior blend of power, torque and fuel efficiency.

Dual Stage Induction
Most 4-strokes use long manifolds to deliver air into the cylinder head. Honda's variable intake system utilizes a plenum chamber with twin butterfly valves to control the volume of intake air into the combustion chambers. Benefit: The result is a simple, compact design that improves overall operation.

Engine Command System
The EMC receives constant input from 18 different sensors and delivers instant starts, smooth operation, strong performance and excellent fuel efficiency.

Oxygen (O2) and Knock Sensors
Oxygen (O2) and knock sensors help determine the correct fuel flow and ignition curve. Benefit: Improves overall engine operation and efficiency plus prevents engine damage!

60 AMP
Honda introduces a proven "on demand" belt-driven alternator that reduces heat buildup and provides superior battery charging capability.

Dual Engine Applications
Easy for Re-powers 26" center-to-centers. Many competitors have to mount on 28" center. Ensures maximum performance and maneuverability.

Engine Alert
The ECM monitors vital engine functions and prevents engine damage by alerting the operator of:

* Overheating
* Water in Fuel
* Low Oil PSI
* Battery
* Over-Rev
* Critical Engine Function

Benefit: Worry-free operation.

Balanced Engine
The 6° V6 fires every 120°, offering the best in balance and durability and providing smooth operation throughout the entire RPM range.

2-Pass Cooling System
The unique cooling system maintains an even temperature on all cylinders. The incoming water passes through each aluminum exhaust manifold, then through the cylinder heads and back around the exhaust manifolds before entering the exhaust. This results in increased cooling efficiency and long-term durability!

Tuned Dual Exhaust
The competition's exhaust track goes through the middle of the oil pan, pre-heating the oil. Honda's dual exhaust headers wrap around the outside of the oil pan, which not only reduces heat build-up, but also increases engine efficiency and performance!

Multi-port Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI)
Delivers the precise amount of fuel/air to each cylinder. The result is quick starts, instant throttle response and low fuel consumption.

Positive Lubrication
A crankshaft-driven, automotive-style trochoid oil pump ensures critical engine component long-term durability.

Non-Linear Mounting System
Patented non-linear rubber mounts provide smoother operation at all engine speeds.

Single Latch Cowl
4 securing points to ensure a water-tight seal, along with a convenient front-mounted single latch.

Sealed Starter
The starter motor is inverted into a sealed chamber that protects the starter bendix drive from the elements.

Corrosion Protection System
A patented, "Double Sealed" multi-layered paint process. Sacrificial anodes and stainless steel technology, along with waterproof connectors, all enhance corrosion protection.

Fresh Water Flushport
Flushes debris and saltwater out of the engine, extending the life of the outboard.

Stainless Steel (Steering Arm, Tilt Tube and all Shafts)
Durability with long-term corrosion resistance!

Counter Rotation
Improves efficiency, hull maneuverability and decreases driver fatigue.

Built-In Pilot Tube
Built-in pilot tube in the gear case eliminates the need to drill holes in your boat for installation.

Ultra Low 3 Star Carb Emissions
Cleanest technology available.
